Geronimo Power is seeking approval to build the proposed Harmony Energy Park data center in Harmony Township west of Fargo, with capacity for up to 540 megawatts and 150 permanent jobs. The company says it will use closed-loop cooling and truck water to limit local impacts, while township leaders consider a two-year moratorium amid resident concerns.

Geronimo Power President Blake Nixon said the proposed Harmony Energy Park data center was selected because of existing electrical and natural gas infrastructure, including the Bison substation and a nearby pipeline terminus. The company has filed a conditional use permit application for the Harmony Township site and estimates the project could support about 1,500 construction jobs and up to 150 permanent positions.

Geronimo said the facility would use a closed-loop cooling system supplied by trucked water rather than local wells or a rural water district, and that noise near homes and community buildings would be limited to 45 decibels. The company has also secured land in neighboring Durbin Township but has not submitted a data center proposal there. Harmony Township is considering a two-year pause on large-scale development after residents raised concerns, with a public hearing planned but not yet scheduled.
