The Vineland Planning Board approved Phase 2 of a data center project following a late-night meeting that included extensive public comments. Residents of the South Jersey town have voiced concerns over the data center's water and power consumption, along with reports of a constant humming noise from the facility.
Phase 1 of the data center is currently under construction, and Phase 2 will add an additional 600,000 square feet, contributing to a planned total of 2.6 million square feet. Board members who voted for the approval stated that Data One, the company developing the data center, has been responsive to resident complaints and will continue to be monitored. Data One previously told NBC10 that it supports city leaders and complies with local noise ordinance limits.
