Washington County residents win round against power line proposal

The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin declined ATC's application, citing incompleteness, which would have served a data center in Port Washington.
Residents in the Town of Trenton, Washington County, Wisconsin, have achieved a partial victory in their year-long battle against a proposed high-voltage power line. Steve Holland, a community member and founder of the Responsible Energy Alliance (REA), stated that while one battle is won, the fight will continue. The power line, proposed by American Transmission Co. (ATC), was intended to provide power to a data center in Port Washington.
The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) declined ATC's proposal, instructing the company to re-apply after deeming the submission incomplete. The PSC cited that "the magnitude and volume of changes have created a barrier to parties and the public's participation in this proceeding." Heidi Prodell, another resident whose property would be impacted, expressed her relief at the decision. ATC issued a statement expressing disappointment in the PSC's decision and is currently considering its options. Both Holland and Prodell affirmed their commitment to monitor ATC's future actions and continue their opposition if the company reapplies.
