Caddo Parish, Louisiana, is actively considering new regulations for temporary worker housing, often referred to as "crew camps," that are established near data center construction sites. Commissioner John Paul Young emphasized that the goal of these proposed rules is to protect nearby residents by ensuring that these facilities register with the parish and adhere to health and fire safety standards.

Young highlighted that data center projects are driving significant industrial growth in Caddo and Bossier Parishes, leading to a need for temporary workers, many of whom are from out of town. The proposed ordinance would require operators of these temporary housing sites to provide a plan for restoring the site to an acceptable quality after workers leave. While spurred by data center development, these rules are designed to apply to any future large-scale construction projects requiring temporary workforce housing. Commissioner Young is also advocating for a separate initiative to encourage data center companies to utilize rainwater collection systems.
