Amazon Says New Missouri Data Center Will Create 400 Jobs
Amazon announced a multi-billion dollar data center in Montgomery County, Missouri, creating 400 jobs. The company claims it will not increase utility or water costs for residents, stating it will cover energy costs and use water for cooling only 7% of the year.
Amazon has revealed plans for a multi-billion dollar investment to build a new state-of-the-art data center campus in Montgomery County, Missouri, specifically in New Florence. The company anticipates that this project will generate 400 new jobs in the region.
Addressing potential community concerns regarding resource consumption, Amazon emphasized its commitment to cover the costs of its energy use. According to the company, the rates paid to Ameren are designed to ensure existing customers will not face increased electricity bills due to the data center's operations. Furthermore, Amazon stated that its data centers would utilize water for cooling purposes for only 7% of the year or less, relying on efficient cooling methods that leverage outside air for the majority of the time.
