Gov: Ardmore City Planning Commission
A developer has withdrawn its application for a proposed 10-megawatt data center in Ardmore, Oklahoma, after the city planning commission voted 7-0 against rezoning the 6.74-acre site from residential to light industrial.
The developer, JRE Strategies LLC, had sought to rezone the property to allow for the construction of the data center. However, neighborhood residents and the Noble Foundation based in Ardmore voiced opposition to the request, citing concerns over how the data center could affect nearby residential areas, including potential impacts related to land use compatibility, infrastructure demand, and the location of an industrial-scale facility within a residential zoning district.
Following the planning commission's rejection of the rezoning request, the developer has now withdrawn the application, meaning the proposed Ardmore data center project will not move forward for a vote by the city commission. This leaves the future of the project uncertain.
