Residents of Kokomo, Indiana are strongly opposing a proposed plan to build an AI data center in Howard County. They argue the data center would be a "drain" on local resources, disrupt farmland and homes, and raise taxes and utility bills. Governor Mike Braun has expressed support for AI data centers, but says they must cover their own power costs. Local lawmakers will hold a hearing on the rezoning proposal on February 10th, but residents have made clear they want no part of the project, stating "We are not for sale" and "the answer is no."
