The Lordstown Village Council is planning to extend a 180-day moratorium on new data center applications, which originally went into effect in January 2026, for an additional 180 days. Council President Jessica Blank stated that a motion was made on May 4 to advertise a public hearing within the next 30 days. During this public meeting, Lordstown residents will have the opportunity to share comments or ask questions regarding data centers. Blank explained that the extension is necessary to allow council members more time to research and discuss data center regulations. A moratorium council committee, established in January, is tasked with researching regulations and other communities with data centers. Additionally, the council is collaborating with a planning and zoning consultant on potential data center regulations. The next Lordstown Village Council meeting is scheduled for May 18, 2026.
