Amazon announced a $1 billion, five-year investment in communities that host its data centers. The company said the funds will support education, workforce training and water preservation projects, following more than $1 billion it says it has already spent in data center communities over the past three years.

Amazon also said it will stop using nondisclosure agreements with local governments and will hold open houses to give residents more information about data center operations.
