Nassau County released a preliminary 66-page report outlining how and where data centers could be developed, including a special zoning district, noise and light limits, water and power reporting, and no county tax breaks. The report does not propose a ban, and commissioners have not voted, while an existing moratorium on new data center applications remains in place and residents can comment.

Nassau County, Florida, released a draft report developed by a five-member county staff committee that examines potential data center development. The proposal would create a special zoning district, limit noise and light, require water and power reporting, and prohibit county tax incentives, with developers responsible for infrastructure costs. County Manager Taco Pope was among the committee members involved in preparing the report.

The report does not recommend a ban, in part because county officials say a new state law would not allow one. Supporters cited potential tax revenue, school funding and local development, while opponents said Nassau County does not need the additional growth and infrastructure demands. The county's moratorium on new data center applications remains in effect; the report was scheduled for public discussion, with county commissioners retaining final authority and no vote set for the meeting described.
