Aurora postpones vote on data center moratorium
Aurora Mayor Mike Kaufman postponed a vote on an indefinite moratorium on data center development after two council members said they could not attend a scheduled special meeting. The delay comes amid community opposition to the proposed Trident data center in northeast Aurora, planned near E-470 and East 48th Avenue across from homes.
Aurora Mayor Mike Kaufman delayed a scheduled vote on an indefinite moratorium on data centers after two City Council members became unavailable for the special meeting. The vote is now expected to take place during the next regular Aurora City Council meeting.
The decision comes as residents push back against the proposed Trident data center in northeast Aurora. The project is planned near E-470 and East 48th Avenue, would span more than 860,000 square feet and would be located across from residential homes. Kaufman said the city should avoid another data center being built unacceptably close to surrounding neighborhoods.
