Griffin, who took office in 2022, noted that much of her first term involved learning the intricate processes of county government and understanding the diverse needs of District 1 residents.
A central issue during Griffin's tenure has been the debate over data center development. The County Council voted 4-3 to modify a proposed text amendment, removing data centers from the I-1, I-2, and RDD zoning categories, effectively leaving them without a permitted zoning classification. Subsequently, the council passed a separate ordinance establishing a 12-month moratorium on data center development, also by a 4-3 vote. Griffin opposed both measures, aligning with Johanna Bishop and Chairman Theo Lane against Council members Cathy Miller, Mark Allison, Dayne Pruitt, and Robbie Templeton.
