The Oklahoma Corporation Commission delayed a hearing on Oklahoma Gas and Electric’s proposed large-load tariff until January 12, 2027. The proceeding will determine how data centers and other major electricity users contribute to grid, generation and backup costs, with Google advocating for access to third-party power suppliers.

The Oklahoma Corporation Commission postponed a hearing on Oklahoma Gas and Electric’s proposed large-load tariff from November 3 to January 12, 2027. The case concerns special payment and service requirements for data centers and other very large electricity customers, including financial commitments intended to protect households and small businesses from costs if a major project reduces usage or shuts down.

Google is participating in the proceeding and supports allowing large customers to purchase electricity from independent generators while continuing to use OG&E’s transmission and distribution system. OG&E argues that such arrangements could reduce customers’ contributions toward existing power plants and leave other ratepayers exposed to backup and infrastructure costs. The delay does not decide how costs will be allocated or change customer rates; those questions will be addressed when the commission considers the proposals and evidence.
