Fit Energy to host Newport Twp. data center information session on Oct. 28
Fit Energy will hold an Oct. 28 information session about its proposed 15-data-center campus in Newport Township. Residents have strongly opposed the project and are seeking details, while the developer is preparing plans for township land development review after zoning permits were granted in August.
Fit Energy plans to host an information session at Greater Nanticoke Area High School on Oct. 28 to discuss its proposed 15-data-center campus in Newport Township. The event will include information stations on site design, infrastructure and environmental issues, along with opportunities to speak with the developer's representatives and engineers.
The proposed campus would occupy nearly 1,400 acres between the Glen Lyon and Lee sections of the township, although no land sale has been completed and detailed plans have not yet been submitted for land development review. Hundreds of residents attended a Newport Township supervisors' meeting on Oct. 5 to oppose the project and demand more information. Fit Energy said engineering studies, utility assessments and the township's review will determine infrastructure needs and required approvals for each development phase.
