Data center moratorium public hearing could happen this August
Dodge County Supervisor Cathy Houchin proposed an 18-month moratorium on data center development to allow time for zoning and ordinance review. The Dodge County Board of Supervisors passed an advisory resolution supporting the moratorium, which is now with the Land Resources and Parks Committee for ordinance development. A public hearing and potential full board vote could occur in August.
Dodge County Supervisor Cathy Houchin has proposed an 18-month moratorium on data center development within the county. The proposal aims to provide sufficient time for local officials to review existing zoning regulations and ordinances related to data center facilities.
On June 16, the Dodge County Board of Supervisors passed an advisory resolution supporting the creation of such an ordinance. The matter has since been referred to the Land Resources and Parks Committee, tasked with developing the specific ordinance and outlining a timeline for its implementation. Dodge County Board Chairperson David Frohling indicated that a public hearing could be held as early as August, potentially followed by a vote by the full Dodge County Board of Supervisors.
