The Google Data Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, operating under the name Agate LLC, has submitted its annual resource usage report to the Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment with key information redacted. Citing state statutes, Agate LLC claimed its electricity and water usage figures were confidential trade secrets.
The Department of Water, Energy, and Environment's Data Center Task Force is responsible for implementing Governor Jim Pillen's July 20th Executive Order, which mandates all data centers in the state to self-report their impact on Nebraska's vital resources, including water and power grids. Reports were due by September 30th. Local news station 10/11 has filed a public record request to obtain the redacted usage data. Documents submitted by Agate LLC indicate the facility has a gross floor area of 288,530 square feet.
