Aurora Neighbors Plan Protest Against Trident Data Center at City Council Meeting
Residents in Aurora, Colorado, are organizing against the proposed Trident data center, which is poised to become the state's largest. They plan to attend an upcoming City Council meeting to protest the development, despite its current zoning allowing administrative approval.
Residents from The Reserve senior housing community and the Windler and Green Valley Ranch neighborhoods in Aurora, Colorado, are actively opposing the planned Trident data center, slated to be the largest in the state.
Neighborhood organizers intend to bring approximately 100 people to a forthcoming Aurora City Council meeting on Monday to express their concerns regarding the project. The proposed 860,000-square-foot facility is located at 23001 East 48th Ave in northeast Aurora.
According to planning documents, the site is zoned within an Airport District, which typically permits data centers as a use by right, allowing for administrative approval without a public hearing unless a variance is requested. Although Trident is not seeking a variance, city spokesperson Jennifer Soules stated that the City of Aurora is coordinating with the developer, Vantage Data Centers, to schedule a community meeting, though a date has not yet been set.
