Fort Wayne nonprofit to host community meeting on Google data center and other projects
A Fort Wayne nonprofit is hosting a community meeting about Google’s proposed or underway data center in Allen County. Residents plan to discuss potential impacts on water, energy demand, the environment and household costs, along with other regional infrastructure projects.
A Fort Wayne community group is organizing a Sunday meeting to give residents an opportunity to discuss Google’s data center and other major projects planned for the area. Kimberly Koczan of Protect Allen County said the group wants neighbors to identify their concerns and communicate them to Google while there is still an opportunity to influence the project.
The discussion is expected to focus on how the data center could affect water resources, energy demand, the environment and residents’ pocketbooks. Organizers also plan to address the Lulu-Sorenson transmission project and the Nuclear Ready Communities initiative as part of a broader conversation about the region’s infrastructure and development.
