The NAACP introduced its “Climate on Your Ballot” dashboard ahead of Election Day, allowing voters to identify nearby data centers and review candidates’ responses to questions about data center development, emissions and other environmental issues. The tracker includes 1,728 operating facilities and 1,042 proposed, approved or under-construction projects nationwide, with particular attention to their proximity to Black communities.

In Memphis’ Boxtown neighborhood, the dashboard maps the Colossus 1 and Colossus 2 facilities and a proposed third project associated with Elon Musk. It also shows the racial demographics of nearby residents and includes responses from several candidates, while state Rep. Justin Pearson has not yet completed the questionnaire. The tool also highlights proposed projects in Bessemer, Alabama, and will be updated as more candidates respond.
