The Salida City Council unanimously approved Ordinance 2026-19, enacting a 12-month moratorium on data center development, during its regular session on August 4. This temporary halt is intended to provide the city with sufficient time to develop new regulations within its Salida Land Use Code.

According to Salida Development Director Bill Almquist, the 12-month period is a maximum timeframe designed to allow the city to align its local rules with forthcoming legislation from the Colorado General Assembly, which is expected to convene from January to June 2027. The ordinance passed without any public opposition or comments.
