Republican gubernatorial candidate Dan Cox joined Adamstown residents and local candidates at a press conference opposing the expansion of mega data centers and related power transmission lines in Maryland. Cox called for a statewide ban, a temporary moratorium on new facilities, reviews of existing permits and independent environmental testing, while criticizing Gov. Wes Moore and Frederick County Executive Jessica Fitzwater over permitting and community communication.
Residents described dust, noise, alleged water contamination, declining property values and concerns about hundreds of diesel generators near Carroll Manor Elementary School. Speakers also objected to the potential use of eminent domain for transmission lines and urged officials to provide air-quality monitoring, compensation and protections for families, farms and children in Adamstown and surrounding Frederick County communities.
