Data center developer secures options to buy land from three Morton County landowners
A data center developer has secured land options in Morton County, North Dakota. Local residents have met to discuss the potential data center near Mandan, and the Mandan Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed data center ordinance.
Sagebrush Infrastructure Partners LLC, a data center developer, has secured exclusive options to purchase land from three property owners in Morton County, North Dakota. Documents obtained by KX News indicate these agreements were signed in March, granting Sagebrush the right to buy the properties for up to four years, though without obligation. The company specializes in developing large data center campuses powered by on-site natural gas plants.
In June, Israeli energy company Stark Power Ltd. announced its definitive agreement to acquire Sagebrush. Stark Power, which trades on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, stated that Sagebrush is currently developing five data center campuses across the central United States, with a substantial combined IT capacity of approximately 5.6 gigawatts. However, specific locations for these projects have not been publicly disclosed by Stark Power.
Locally, residents gathered recently at the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library to discuss the potential development of a data center near Mandan. Further engagement on the issue is anticipated, as the Mandan Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing on August 24 to review a proposed data center ordinance.
