Temple City Council meetings will feature an increased police presence following a death threat made against council members. The threat was issued amidst ongoing community opposition to data center developments in the area, prompting an arrest nearly a month ago.

Temple Mayor Tim Davis acknowledged public safety concerns but downplayed the likelihood of serious incidents. Nohely Mackowiak with the City of Temple confirmed the increased police presence is for monitoring behavior, advising residents to remain respectful during civil discourse at future meetings. Sarah Royer, representing 'Stop Temple Data Centers,' also issued a statement regarding the situation.

Davis urged residents to research the types of data centers coming to Temple, emphasizing that the City Council and executive staff believe in the positive economic impacts of data centers. They aim to capitalize on this opportunity while prioritizing community safety. The next City Council meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 18, with no specific data center items on the agenda. Currently, the Temple City Council has approved four data centers.
