The City of Tucson has revoked a temporary water meter issued to Ames Construction, the contractor building the Project Blue data center, after the company improperly used Tucson drinking water for dust control. City Manager Tim Thomure informed the project developers, Beale Infrastructure, of the decision in a letter dated May 4. Thomure reiterated the City of Tucson Mayor and Council's unanimous rejection of any involvement with, or support for, the Project Blue Data Center Development, including the use of city water resources for the facility. Despite the city's opposition, construction on the data center began last month. The city's action to cut off the water supply highlights its continued stance against the project and its enforcement of policies regarding water usage, particularly given the desert environment of Tucson. This move follows the city's earlier public rejection of the data center's development.
