
140 attend September 21 data center meeting in Moville
About 140 people attended a Woodbury County Zoning Commission meeting in Moville to discuss whether data centers should be allowed in the county. County supervisors are enforcing a one-year moratorium on data centers in unincorporated areas while officials gather information and public feedback, amid substantial local opposition.
The Woodbury County Zoning Commission held a public meeting at the Moville Community Center on Sept. 21, drawing about 140 residents to discuss the potential development of data centers in Woodbury County. Attendees were invited to ask questions and express their views about allowing the facilities in the county.
Woodbury County supervisors are enforcing a one-year moratorium on data centers in unincorporated areas while the Zoning Commission studies the technology and gauges residents’ preferences. Mark Nelson, chairman of the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors, opened the meeting, while Zoning Commission President Christine Zellmer Zant chaired it. County Community and Economic Development Director Dan Priestley also attended to provide information. The meeting featured substantial opposition, although some residents attended to learn more about data centers.
