City and County Officials Respond To eGreenvilleExtra Article on Data Centers in Hunt County

Last Tuesday (March 10th 2026), eGreenvilleExtra (part of the eExtraNews network)  was the first local and state news group to report an announcement by data mining company Core Scientific to build a 265-acre site in Hunt County where it plans to develop a large-scale 285-megawatt data center campus designed to support artificial intelligence and high-performance computing workloads. The campus is expected to support ~430 MW of gross power capacity. Energization is scheduled to begin in 2027, with the campus expected to reach full power by 2029. The exact location remains officially undisclosed, with multiple sources agreeing on a site on or near Hunt County Road 3508 in the Wieland community of Hunt County.
