The New Mexico Supreme Court has issued two temporary stays concerning "Project Jupiter," a data center development in Albuquerque. One stay halts a public hearing by the New Mexico Environment Department regarding the data center's air quality permit application. This action was prompted by a petition from the clean energy advocacy group, New Energy Economy, which argues that the project's fuel source remains unestablished.
Separately, the Supreme Court also granted a temporary stay on the Office of the State Engineer's authorization for a new well intended to supply water for Project Jupiter's construction. Both administrative proceedings are paused until further order from the court, with any requested replies due by September 2nd. The legal challenges underscore environmental and resource concerns surrounding the data center's development in New Mexico.
