Residents Concerned About Hutchinson Data Center
Residents of Hutchinson voiced concerns at a city council meeting about an approved data center project. They inquired about a moratorium, but city officials clarified that any future moratorium would only affect new data centers, not the already-approved facility.
Residents of Hutchinson, Minnesota, continued to express their concerns regarding an approved data center project at a recent city council meeting. Mayor Gary Forcier read a statement addressing public concerns, and the city has reportedly created a "Frequently Asked Questions" page on its website to provide information.
During the meeting, some residents inquired about the possibility of the city adopting a moratorium to halt construction of the data center. However, City Administrator Matt Jaunich clarified that if a moratorium were approved, it would only apply to future data center developments and would not impact the facility that has already received approval.
