Ron Brisbois, executive director of the Grant County Economic Development Corp., has revealed new information about a potential $1-2 billion data center project being considered for southwest Wisconsin's Driftless Area. The proposed facility would span approximately 500 acres and create around 50 jobs.
According to Brisbois, the project would not necessitate any public tax incentives, such as a tax incremental district, which is a common development tool that can delay property tax revenue for local municipalities and school districts. He estimates that the data center would contribute a conservative $5.6 million annually in property tax revenue.
Brisbois described the project as "promising" and stated that a decision from the unnamed developer is expected this month, with Grant County being evaluated alongside potential sites in Indiana and North Dakota.
