Lincoln County discusses proposed data center zoning regulations
Lincoln County officials are moving forward with proposed zoning regulations for potential data centers. These comprehensive zoning proposals are now heading to the County Board for a final decision, with a public hearing anticipated for August 31st.
Lincoln County officials, including Commissioner Chris Bruns, are continuing discussions on proposed zoning regulations for data center development. These comprehensive zoning proposals, which follow a recent County Planning Commission meeting, are now advancing to the County Board for a final decision. A public hearing on the matter is expected by August 31st.
Commissioner Bruns highlighted that the county's existing conditional use permit process and land-use plan provide strong legal grounds to either add new regulations or deny incoming data center applications. He referenced a previous vote on moratoriums, indicating a belief that the county is well-positioned to protect its resources. Separately, the county's Highway Superintendent, Jason Schultz, provided an update on accelerated timelines for road improvements on Hershey-Dickens Road, with the project nearing 70% completion ahead of the harvest season.
