Archbald borough officials denied a conditional use application for two data center campuses, a small victory for residents. However, four other significant data center proposals, including 'Project Gravity,' 'Project Boson,' 'Project Green Mountain,' and 'Wildcat Ridge,' still remain pending or require further approvals in the borough.

Archbald residents are celebrating a partial victory after the Archbald council denied a conditional use application for two data center campuses, comprising 22 buildings, during a special meeting. Jermyn resident John Kura expressed the community's determination to have their voices heard. Despite this success, the fight is far from over for local residents, as four other substantial data center proposals totaling over 10 million square feet remain active within the borough. These include 'Project Gravity,' a 185-acre site for seven two-story buildings, and 'Project Boson,' a 620,000 square foot single-building campus, both of which were submitted before the borough's data center overlay was passed and thus avoided the conditional use process. Additionally, 'Project Green Mountain,' a 270-acre plot for seven two-story buildings, and 'Wildcat Ridge,' a 570-acre site for 14 two-story buildings, are awaiting third conditional use hearings. If approved at these hearings, all projects will proceed to preliminary development, requiring zoning permits and permits from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and PennDOT before final approval.
