West Memphis Mayor Marco McClendon provided an update on the planned Google data center during a WREG interview, saying he pressed the company to avoid pollution and protect residents' air and water. McClendon said Google has been transparent and has responded positively to the city's concerns.

The mayor said the project could use treated wastewater or reclaimed water from the city's wastewater treatment system for cooling, rather than placing additional demands on drinking-water supplies. He also said West Memphis would welcome additional data centers if they meet the city's standards and protect residents, while emphasizing that the community should benefit through jobs and tax revenue.
