The Department of the Army announced on March 26 its plan to build a data center on approximately 1,000 acres of underutilized Fort Bliss property. This project is intended to enable "the strategic development of AI capabilities." In response to community concerns, Fort Bliss is scheduled to host a community listening session next Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Wyndham El Paso Airport Hotel Conference Center. A neighborhood group in the Montana Vista area has publicly expressed opposition to this data center project.
