Hallam Village Board approves zoning rights for data center
The Hallam Village Board unanimously approved zoning rights for a proposed data center involving Crusoe Technologies and Monolith Materials. Residents raised concerns about fire safety and noise, although the project received support from some attendees and no construction timeline has been announced.
The Hallam Village Board unanimously approved zoning rights for a proposed data center after about an hour of discussion involving board members, residents and Steve Buster, a representative of Crusoe Technologies. Crusoe Technologies and Monolith Materials signed a special permit in July to begin the project.
Residents questioned the plan’s fire safety and potential noise impacts. Buster said the project would have a fire response plan, and some Hallam residents were invited to visit a data center to address concerns about excessive noise. Although some attendees opposed the decision, roughly half the room applauded after the vote. The construction schedule has not been released.
