The Joliet Junior College Board of Trustees is set to consider three censures against Trustee Maureen Broderick for her conduct at an April 20 city council meeting. The proposed censures allege Broderick identified herself as a trustee while stating the board's opposition to a city agenda matter, voiced opposition to an issue the board was aware of and supported, and disclosed discussions from a closed session.

The initial matter Broderick commented on involved the Joliet Plan Commission's approval of an amended Planned Unit Development ordinance for the Rock Run Residences apartments, which restricted occupancy to those affiliated with JJC. The city council later voted 6-3 to remove this residency restriction. Separately, at a March 16 city council meeting, Trustee Alicia Morales publicly voiced her opposition to a proposed data center project, clarifying she was speaking as a private citizen, while a JJC official had spoken in favor of the project on behalf of the college's administration.
