Peosta reviews data center development concept plans
The city of Peosta, Iowa, is reviewing concept plans for a 194-acre data center project proposed by real estate company Karis. The city is developing a new ordinance to regulate data centers before an existing moratorium on data center development expires.
Peosta, Iowa, could be the next location for a data center project, as reported by the "Telegraph Herald" newspaper. Real estate company Karis initially proposed a 420-acre data center site near the Dubuque Regional Airport but is now reportedly collaborating with a legal services company on a different proposal. This new project would involve a data center on 194 acres of already-acquired land south of Highway 20.
Peosta's Mayor stated that the city does not consider the current pitch a formal proposal. The city is currently under a data center moratorium and is actively working on developing an ordinance to regulate future data center developments before the moratorium's expiration. The review of these concept plans will help inform the city's upcoming ordinance.
