Lackawanna County residents organized a kickball tournament at Sherwood Park in Dunmore to raise funds for their opposition to proposed data centers in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The event was organized by Alen Browning and the Lackawanna Citizens Overwatch Project, serving as a platform to educate the community about potential dangers such as water contamination, air basin issues, diesel generators, and small modular reactors associated with data center development.
Browning emphasized the importance of community engagement not only online but also by attending council meetings and town halls where decisions on these projects are made. Participants had access to informational flyers, bumper stickers, and t-shirts, all benefiting the efforts of the opposition groups.
