Gov: Oldham County Planning and Zoning Commission, Oldham County Fiscal Court, Study Review Committee
The Oldham County Planning and Zoning Commission, during its March 24 meeting, decided to defer the review of proposed data center regulations to its Study Review Committee (SRC). This decision followed the Oldham County Fiscal Court's rejection of the initial proposed regulations, which were sent back with conflicting recommendations from various magistrates.
Planning Director Ryan Fischer highlighted the difficulty in reconciling these contradictory requests, suggesting that further discussion within the SRC was necessary. County Attorney D. Berry Baxter clarified that any recommendations from the SRC would still require consideration by the Planning and Zoning Commission and a public hearing. The commission unanimously approved the motion to send the regulations to the SRC for thorough review, including any necessary additions or corrections.
Crucially, Baxter reminded the commission that a moratorium on data center development in Oldham County would remain in effect until the fiscal court officially approves new regulations. The earliest the SRC could address these regulations is their April 23 meeting, potentially allowing the Planning Commission to consider them by May 26.
