Amazon Data Services is planning a massive data center campus in Wharton County, Texas, according to filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The proposed "Project Eagle" includes four buildings, totaling 756,000 square feet, with an estimated construction cost of $1.2 billion. Construction is slated to begin in August 2024, with completion anticipated by August 2027.
Amazon Data Services, a subsidiary of Amazon, is reportedly planning a significant data center campus in Wharton County, Texas. Public filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation under the name "Project Eagle" indicate the development would consist of four separate buildings.
Each proposed facility is estimated to span 189,000 square feet, with a construction cost of approximately $300 million, bringing the total investment to $1.2 billion for 756,000 square feet. The campus is planned for a 2,700-acre site near FM 1301 and FM 442 in the Boling area. Construction is projected to commence on August 1, 2024, with two buildings expected to be finished by January 1, 2027, and the remaining two by August 1, 2027. Amazon has not yet made a public announcement regarding the project.
