The Mason City Council in Michigan unanimously approved "Mason Connect," a new community outreach plan designed to inform residents about potential data center developments. The plan includes a town hall on September 14 and a series of neighborhood meetings to provide updates and answer questions.

Mason Mayor Russell Whipple emphasized that the plan aims to communicate effectively with residents and address what he described as untrue claims about city officials. However, public comments opposing data center developments lasted over an hour, with Paula Caltrider of Michigan Citizens Against Data Centers stating that many community members have lost trust in the city council and view the proposals as a "land grab" and "cash grab."

The company behind the data center proposal has not been publicly identified. According to the city manager's report, the landowner of the site has applied for annexation to the State Boundary Commission after the Vevay Township Board voted against supplying the land for the development.
