This meeting follows the Cheyenne City Council's rejection of a proposed 12-month moratorium on data center construction after significant public debate.

Microsoft is holding a public information session in Cheyenne, Wyoming, at Laramie County Community College to engage with the community regarding its expanding data center footprint. The company recently submitted applications for two additional expansion areas: a 385-acre site near the Cheyenne Business Parkway and a 35-acre site south of Happy Jack Road.

These new filings build upon Microsoft's previous announcement in April to acquire 3,200 acres southeast of downtown Cheyenne, which company officials stated would triple its local presence and create numerous jobs without requiring local property tax incentives.

The public meeting comes shortly after the Cheyenne City Council voted 8-1 to reject a proposed 12-month moratorium on new data center construction. The ordinance, sponsored by Councilor Mark Moody, aimed to temporarily halt permit processing and zoning changes for data center facilities but failed to gain committee support and was ultimately voted down after extensive community and council debate.
