Construction at FirmFarm in Anniston involves interior renovations to accommodate TensorWave, an AI infrastructure company that uses AMD graphics processing units. Mayor Ciara Smith-Roston said the work does not constitute an expansion of the existing data center.

Alabama Power is separately building a substation on Hillyer Robinson Industrial Parkway outside the facility. The project requires soil removal and replacement to prepare the site. Anniston's 12-month moratorium on data center development is intended to give the city time to establish regulations, but city officials said the current FirmFarm work falls within the existing facility rather than expanding it.
