A data center discussion in Salix, Iowa, culminated in a Salix City Council meeting packed with residents both for and against the proposed development. This marked the fourth time community members engaged with council members regarding the data center.

While Woodbury County has already implemented a year-long moratorium on data centers, the city of Salix did not have such a restriction. However, a resident, Peterson, formally submitted a request to the council, presenting 70 signatures from Salix residents for a moratorium and asking for a special meeting to implement it quickly.

Following the request and subsequent discussion among council members, a motion for a moratorium was made and passed on a 3-2 vote. This decision introduces uncertainty for the data center development possibilities in Salix, with further discussions expected at the next meeting.
