Many residents of Perry Township, Ohio are voicing strong opposition to a planned data center development along Faircrest Street SW. Residents are concerned about the potential impacts on noise, air pollution, electric costs, and water usage. The township trustees acknowledge the uneasiness among residents but say they do not have the authority to impose a moratorium on the project, which is moving forward this month on 100 acres of industrial-zoned property.

Many Perry Township residents are voicing opposition to a planned data center development along Faircrest Street SW. Over 50 people attended a township trustee meeting, expressing concerns about the project's potential impacts on noise, air pollution, electric costs, and water use. Trustee Ralph DeChiara Jr. acknowledged the residents' "obvious uneasiness" and said the township is trying to make the project beneficial for the community. However, DeChiara stated the township lacks authority to place a moratorium or change the zoning. The data center is being developed by Panattoni Development Co. and is expected to consist of four large buildings, with the bulk of construction targeted for completion in 2027. While some residents oppose the project, others, like local construction company Beaver Excavating, are open to the data center and believe it will bring significant tax revenue to the township.
