Delhi Township ended its membership in the Lansing Economic Area Partnership one day after LEAP announced a proposed $10 billion, 700-megawatt data center at Holt Economic Opportunity Park. Township officials said they had not been consulted and that no formal land-use application had been submitted, while the township remains under a data center moratorium through April 2027.

The Lansing Economic Area Partnership and Lighthouse Sustainability unveiled a concept for a $10 billion, 700-megawatt data center at the 423-acre Holt Economic Opportunity Park in Delhi Township. The proposal has no identified end user or formal development application, and the property is not currently zoned for industrial use. LEAP said it intended to gather resident input before approaching township officials and highlighted projected tax revenue, school funding and a proposed $20 million community fund.

Delhi Township officials quickly rejected the process, saying they learned of the announcement from the media and had not discussed the project with LEAP, Lighthouse Sustainability or the township’s governing bodies. The township terminated its membership in LEAP, citing local interests and resident priorities, amid immediate social-media backlash. Delhi Township has a 12-month moratorium on data center development that is scheduled to expire in April 2027.
