Group files petition to put Ferguson data center on ballot
Ferguson residents filed a petition with more than 1,400 signatures seeking to put the city’s controversial data center development on the ballot. The city approved the multi-billion-dollar project at the former Emerson Electric site last month, but the signatures must still be validated before triggering a repeal vote or public referendum.
Residents of Ferguson, Missouri, submitted a petition opposing a recently approved, multibillion-dollar data center development at the former Emerson Electric site. Organizers said they collected more than 1,400 signatures, exceeding the roughly 1,000 needed to seek repeal of the city’s approval or force a public vote.
The Ferguson city clerk must validate the signatures before the petition can advance. The filing represents an active effort to challenge the city’s approval of the controversial project.
