
Walla Walla County officials seeking public comment on proposed Amazon data center
Walla Walla County officials are seeking public comment on a proposed Amazon data center in the county. An application was filed on September 12, initiating a public comment period until October 12, 2026. A final decision will be made after multiple comment periods and a departmental determination.
Walla Walla County is currently soliciting public comment regarding a new data center proposed by Amazon. The application for the facility, which would be located near Highway 12 along Sundance Road, was officially submitted to the county government on September 12.
Melissa Shumake, Walla Walla County Community Development Director, announced that the initial public comment period will remain open until October 12, 2026. Following this, the Community Development Department will issue a determination, after which an additional comment period will be provided before a final decision is rendered on the data center proposal. Written comments can be submitted via email or mail to the Community Development Department.
