Project Jupiter says new partnership will save 21 million gallons of water a year

Project Jupiter, an Oracle data center under construction in Santa Teresa, New Mexico, has announced a new partnership with Arable, a water efficiency company, expected to save 21 million gallons of water per year. This latest initiative follows an earlier revelation that the data center would utilize Bloom Energy's fuel cell technology to reduce its water consumption.

Jake Oster, Oracle's Vice President of Sustainability Policy and Community Relations, detailed the water usage, stating that the initial fill for the closed-loop cooling system and fuel cells requires approximately 11 million gallons, with an estimated annual use of 168,000 gallons thereafter. Oracle has pledged transparency in reporting its water usage, promising to engage independent third parties for verification.

In addition to these operational savings, Oracle has committed $50 million towards improving water infrastructure in Dona Ana County, with 80% already funded and the remainder expected by the end of August. These announcements come as residents of Doña Ana County continue to press public officials, including county senators, for accountability from Oracle regarding Project Jupiter's environmental promises and potential health impacts.
