Independence Guard Alliance files lawsuit to halt construction of Independence data center

The Independence Guard Alliance (Guardians United Against Reckless Development) has announced the filing of a lawsuit aimed at stopping the construction of the Nebius hyperscale AI data factory in Independence, Missouri's Little Blue Valley.
The lawsuit names the city of Independence, data center developer Missouri ADC Holdings LLC, and Independence Power Partners LP as defendants. Its primary objective is to invalidate the city's March 2 approvals that greenlit the data center's construction.
According to the Guard Alliance, the legal action also seeks compensation for property owners and citizens who are allegedly experiencing various harms due to the project. Furthermore, the lawsuit contends that city officials violated Missouri's Sunshine Law by conducting "several closed-door meetings" during the approval process for the data center.
