Geronimo Power president calls for more dialogue on data center
Geronimo Power President Blake Nixon is urging more public discussion before Harmony Township considers a proposed 24-month moratorium on data centers and other electrical infrastructure. The company has applied for a conditional use permit to build the Harmony Energy Park, including two data center buildings, near the Bison electrical substation in Cass County.
Geronimo Power President Blake Nixon criticized the proposed 24-month moratorium under consideration by the Harmony Township Board, saying it could prevent meaningful dialogue about future development. The board is scheduled to consider the moratorium at a special meeting on Oct. 22, 2026, with public comment planned at the Mapleton Community Center.
Geronimo Power has submitted a conditional use permit application for Harmony Energy Park, a proposed development with two data center buildings near the Bison electrical substation. Nixon argued that the township should evaluate the project through its existing permitting process, while Board President Dustin Burchill said residents would have an opportunity to speak at the meeting.
